ASTA Supports Legislation to Increase Availability of Technical Service Providers

On May 3, U.S. Senators Mike Braun (IN), Michael Bennet (CO) and Roger Marshall (KS) introduced legislation to address the shortage of Technical Service Providers (TSPs) who help producers access USDA conservation programs through one-on-one assistance. The legislation would expand on the framework first envisioned in the 2018 Farm Bill and is endorsed by a wide variety of agriculture and conservation organizations, including ASTA. Companion legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Reps. Jim Baird (IN-04) and Abigail Spanberger (VA-07).
