ASTA Elects 2024-25 Officers

Alexandria, VA—July 1, 2024—  The American Seed Trade Association elected its 2024-25 officers at the 2024 ASTA Leadership Summit, which took place in Nashville, Tennessee June 15-19.

The 2024-2025 officers, which begin official duties on July 1, are:
Chair: Dan Foor, DLF North America
First Vice Chair: Dave Treinen, Syngenta
Second Vice Chair: Bryan Gerard, JoMar Seeds

At the ASTA Leadership Summit, incoming Chair Dan Foor first thanked outgoing Chair, Dave Armstrong with Sakata Seed, for his leadership of the association. In his acceptance remarks, Foor inspired attendees, sharing the story of his upbringing, early involvement in FFA, and career path. He noted that someone does not “have to be defined by [their] circumstance,” encouraging those in the room to stretch beyond their comfort to grow their potential.

Foor continued to share key times that he was supported by mentors and colleagues in the seed industry, and how their actions activated the leader within, bringing him to where he is today as Senior Vice President of DLF North America and Chair of ASTA.

“It is my honor to serve as the 2024-2025 ASTA Chair, working with our association’s members from across the country,” shared Foor on his first day as Chair of ASTA. “With over 700 members who help deliver innovative seed products from alfalfa to zucchini, ASTA plays a crucial role in ensuring the seed industry is broadly represented in both domestic and international policy conversations. I look forward to collaborating with our team of officers, Board, Advisory Council, and ASTA staff to move our industry forward to feed, fuel, and clothe the world.”

Dan Foor is the Senior Vice President of Distribution for DLF North America. He and his team of nearly 200 sales and operations professionals are focused on promoting forage, conservation, and turf seeds through their expansive customer base in the United States and Canada. Dan counts 30 years of professional seed and agricultural experience. He joined DLF in 2018 when the company acquired La Crosse Seed, where he had progressed through the COO and CEO roles since 2011. Prior to that, he worked at Monsanto for 12 years. During his time with Monsanto, he held roles launching Roundup Ready® Alfalfa, leading the genetic and trait marketing efforts for the Corn States licensing division and completing successful assignments in Colombia and Mexico. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University and a Masters in International Business from St. Louis University. He resides in La Crosse County, Wisconsin with his wife, Beth, and three daughters.
