We are still recapping ASTA’s largest event each year! CSS has more than 2,500 seed industry professionals from 36 countries together for America’s largest seed industry conference! This episode highlights just a few of the outstanding students attended CSS. Listen in now to interviews with Julianne Kellogg with Washington State University, Tavin Schneider of Washington State University, Kiersten Bean of Iowa State University and Lauren Schreck of Purdue University.
Students had multiple opportunities to get involved at CSS outside of the regularly programmed sessions. The Seed Science Challenge hosted by the Seed Science Foundation was new this year and was an activity where Julianne and Tavin presented research findings on the emerging hemp industry. The Student Poster Contest is available to graduate students with research to present. 11 students participated and shared their findings with CSS attendees. There were exclusive student sessions about internships, mentoring and the seed industry career outlook. In addition to our nearly 20 student members in attendance, Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences brought 20 students to listen to sessions and explore the trading room floor.
