A Note from ASTA President & CEO Andy LaVigne

  • On January 11, 2024

Happy New Year from ASTA’s Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia! On behalf of the ASTA team, I’d like to wish you, your colleagues, and your families our wishes for a prosperous, happy, and healthy 2024. While a new year brings new beginnings, ASTA continues to beat the drum on our top priorities. In the midst of attempting to avert a government shutdown and addressing the crisis at the border, Congressional leaders need to strike a deal on the Farm Bill. Our team remains actively engaged with key negotiators, ensuring they understand that resiliency and prosperity in agriculture starts with seed.

On the international front, ASTA’s advocacy in 2024 will continue to build on our successful overseas programs.  In 2023, ASTA supported in-person events in 16 countries — reaching government policymakers and seed industry professionals from nearly 100 countries.

We are grateful to our membership for their continued support and active engagement in ASTA’s numerous working groups, committees, and the Advisory Council. If you are interested in getting more involved with ASTA, please get in touch to see what’s a good fit.

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you in Monterey for ASTA’s 63rd Vegetable and Flower Seed Conference this January 26-30, as well as the 2024 Leadership Summit June 15-19 in Nashville, the Forage, Turf & Conservation Seed Conference on October 30 in Kansas City, and the Field Crop Seed Convention, December 10-13 in Orlando. There’s still time to register – find more information here!
