ASTA’s Dr. Sam Crowell recently moderated panel discussions in Geneva, Switzerland, on the margins of ongoing negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Under the WTO Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Committee, ASTA highlighted how plant breeding innovations (PBI) like genome editing can deliver improved seeds, provide new products for consumers, tackle climate adaptability, and address the pest and disease pressures facing farmers.

Under the 9th Global Review on Aid for Trade, ASTA promoted global alignment of trade and regulatory policies – which allow the seed sector to invest in diverse markets and support global food security.
