ASTA Welcomes Two Summer Interns

  • On June 15, 2022

Abigail (Abbie) Putnam and Ryan Williamson joined the ASTA team as the 2022 Summer Interns on June 6.

Abbie, ASTA’s Government Affairs intern, is a rising fourth year at the University of Florida studying agricultural communications and Spanish with a minor in leadership. She has previously held internships with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, the U.S. House of Representatives, Florida Farm Bureau Federation, and the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Services Government Affairs office. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in agriculture policy. Abbie is excited to work with ASTA and looks forward to becoming a better seed advocate. She can be reached this summer at ASTA_GAintern@betterseed.org

Ryan, ASTA’s Communications Intern, is an incoming junior at Texas A&M University where he is studying in the Business Honors program and obtaining a certificate in International Trade and Agriculture.

Growing up in the rice farming community of El Camp, Texas, Ryan developed a passion for agriculture from a very young age. This passion eventually led him to become involved in 4-H and FFA, where he most recently served as the 2020-2021 Texas FFA State Vice President.

At Texas A&M, Ryan is active in the Student Government Association where he serves as a student senator and a member of multiple committees. With plans to become an agricultural lawyer, he is excited to learn more about the seed industry through his time with ASTA. Ryan can be reached this summer at ASTA_COMMSintern@betterseed.org
