ASTA Wraps Another Successful Field Crop Seed Convention

More than 1,000 seed professionals gathered December 10-13 in Orlando, FL for ASTA’s 2024 Field Crop Seed Convention. Dan Basse kicked things off Wednesday morning with his ever-popular global ag economic forecast for 2025 with a standing room only audience, providing a look ahead for the American agriculture commodity sector. Financial ag advisor Shawn Hackett offered his perspective on how farmers and consumers can prepare and react to the unpredictability of weather systems during his Weather or Not session. Several industry partners from the soybean, winter canola, and wheat sectors joined us in Orlando to provide case studies on how customer demands will push the seed industry into new frontiers during the Drivers of Land Use Change General Session. Annie Petsonk, U.S. Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs, rounded out the convention programming on Thursday afternoon in a fireside chat with ASTA Board Member Kendall Palmer, Corteva, discussing sustainable aviation fuel, industry trends, their impacts on the seed industry, and political pathways for these practices with the new Administration.
