BLM Updates Approved Seed Lab List Requirements

  • On November 24, 2021

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) National Interagency Fire Center is in the process of updating its approved lab list to require USDA-AMS Accredited Seed Lab (ASL) approval for all agency seed vendors beginning with the spring seed buy. The USDA Accredited Seed Lab (ASL) Program is a voluntary, user-fee service available to seed testing laboratories to ensure that they follow documented quality management systems. The ASL lab accreditation program is administered by the USDA for purity, germination, and noxious examinations of seed. Details of the program can be found here. Seed labs interested in the accreditation can contact Todd Erickson with USDA-AMS-SRTD at (704) 810-8870 to start the process.
