Position: Seed Treatment Agronomist, Western Corn Belt

We are seeking a field agronomist having expertise in the development and commercialization of seed treatment technologies for multiple crops across North America.  This role is an essential part of our product development and commercialization team, bridging our research and discovery team with the growers we seek to support.  Providing technical and agronomic support to Pivot Bio sales teams and to our grower-customers will be critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical and agronomic support for commercialization of seed treatments to Pivot Bio sales teams including best practices for application, planting practices, product demonstration, product placement and training.
Responsible for all aspects of coordination and execution of late-stage field trials; location identification, grower/cooperator contracts, trial planting, in-season trial maintenance, harvesting and data collation.
Interact regularly with early adopters for both product evaluation and product support.
Develop and maintain relationships with universities for product validation in existing research programs.
Develop and maintain relationships with research and discovery colleagues to help steward current products and introduce new products.
Provide written agronomy research summaries and technical product use guides in support of product development, management, and positioning.
Regularly integrate emerging technology tools for evaluation of products as well as grower demonstrations.
Travel up to 40% of the time.

Required skills, experience:

Master’s or PhD in Agronomy or Horticulture related field preferred; minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Horticulture related field plus at least five years’ field research experience or equivalent experience required.
Strong background in agricultural field research and solid understanding of wheat and corn production including plant nutrition, organics, biologicals, crop protection chemicals and adjuvants/surfactants.
Expertise in seed treatment research and development, and commercialization.
Strong interpersonal communication skills supported by proficiency in verbal and written communications.
Strong Advanced field research planning, trial design and statistical analysis
Strong practical knowledge of and experience with chemical applications, data capture/entry
Ability to incorporate technology tools and systems, remote sensing, aerial imagery etc. into R&D trail work.  Willingness to run proof of concept experiments with emerging technology tools (i.e., novel sensors).
