Conservation Seed Program Seeks Donations of out-of-date Seed for use in Wildlife Food Plots

  • On March 2, 2022

For over 20 years, the Conservation Seed Program has offered seed companies the opportunity to make their out-of-date or discontinued seed varieties available to conservation organizations and their respective members who will plant the seed in wildlife food plots. Through the program, seed is picked up directly from seed companies and is distributed at no cost to them. Administered by Ladd Johnson & Associates, the program has provided thousands of acres in food plots each year and provided a lower cost for the participants to establish their respective food plots.

Quantities are usually in semi-load volumes, though not limited to those numbers. Each receiving organization signs a disclaimer that the donated seed cannot be sold, traded or used as feed and any violations of the disclaimer would prevent the organizations from receiving the seed. It also protects the genetics and integrity of the seed.
