In Memory of Joseph Byrum

ASTA was recently made aware of the passing of Joseph Stephen Byrum, Sr. on July 29, 2024.

Steve began his career with the Byrum Seed Company following graduation from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his career, he was past president of the North Carolina Seedsman Association and the Southern Seed Association.

In 1996-97, Steve held the office of president for the American Seed Trade Association where he spoke before Congress on behalf of the industry and remained on the Board of Directors after his tenure.

Steve is survived by his wife, sons and daughters-in-law, daughters, granddaughters, and many other extended family members. To learn more about Steve, read his obituary here.
