Senate to Vote Today on Renegotiated USMCA

The Senate is scheduled to vote today on the renegotiated U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement (USMCA). We encourage ASTA members to call their Senators and urge them to vote YES on the agreement. Click here to see the contact information for your Senators.

This vote comes after the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted 385 to 41 to ratify the agreement in late December. Mexico and Canada are the top two markets for the U.S. seed industry. The agreement has several important provisions for the seed industry, including: stronger intellectual property rights protection in Mexico; strengthened phytosanitary measures; new language on plant breeding innovation; and continued open market access.
