Two recent studies give a unique perspective on the benefits of turf, landscaping and gardening.
One study, featured in Science Magazine found that dressing up vacant lots in a major U.S. metropolis curbed violence by nearly 30-percent. A second study, profiled in TreeHugger, found that landscaping vacant urban land significantly reduced feelings of depression and improved overall mental health for local residents.
As North America’s largest agricultural crop, turf contributes a variety of important environmental benefits to society—including climate control, dust filtration, erosion control, cleaner air and noise reduction—while contributing to overall human health and well-being.
